Day 1: Fez – Atlas Mountains – Tiz'n Talghamt – Errachidia – Merzouga Desert

After breakfast at your hotel or riad in Fes, we will pick you up at 8:00 am sharp and begin our journey to the Merzouga Desert. The drive takes approximately 7 hours or more (about 470 km), depending on stops.

Our first stop is the Cèdre Gouraud Forest near Azrou, famous for its towering cedar trees—some over a thousand years old. This forest is a paradise for nature lovers and photographers. You will also encounter Barbary macaques living freely in the woods, and if you wish, you may feed them nuts.

We then continue through the town of Midelt, located between the Middle and High Atlas Mountains. After lunch, we drive through Tizi n’Talghamt to reach Errachidia, where you will enjoy stunning views of the Ziz Valley, known for its lush oases, palm groves, and dramatic cliffs along the Ziz River.

Upon arrival in Merzouga, we will take you to your riad or hotel for the night. The accommodations offer comfortable amenities, including private bathrooms and showers, ensuring a relaxing stay.

Day 2: Explore Merzouga area – Erg Chebbi - Camel Trek/Overnight on the desert Camp

After breakfast, we begin exploring the Merzouga area. With a guide, you will visit local Nomads, where you can learn about their daily life, traditional cooking, cattle herding, and Berber language, while enjoying their warm hospitality.

Next, we travel to Khamlia village, located about 7 km from Merzouga, known for its traditional Gnawa music, a unique blend of African and Berber rhythms played with drums. You will experience the welcoming atmosphere of the village and learn about Gnawa spiritual traditions passed down through generations.

After lunch, we head to the seasonal desert oasis/lake, about 20 km west of Merzouga. Surrounded by palm trees and greenery, this peaceful spot offers beautiful views of the nearby dunes and supports local plant and animal life. You may even see local farmers working in the fields.

Later, we return to the hotel for some rest before heading out on a camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes to watch a spectacular sunset. Sandboarding is also available for those who wish to try it.

In the evening, you will arrive at the desert camp for dinner, followed by traditional Berber music around the campfire. You can then relax under the stars and enjoy the tranquility of the Sahara Desert.

Day 3: Merzouga - Todra Gorge - Dades Valley

After breakfast at the camp, we return by camel ride (optional) and depart the desert toward Todra Gorge, a stunning off-the-beaten-path destination. You will walk through the gorge and admire its impressive canyon walls and lush oasis scenery.

In Tinghir, you can take a short walk through the oasis gardens to learn more about local agriculture. We then continue toward the Dades Valley, where you will see the famous Monkey Fingers rock formations along the Tamlalt road.

This unique site offers breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and mountains, making it an ideal location for photography. The unusual rock formations and panoramic landscapes create a memorable experience.

We spend the night in Dades Valley, where you will enjoy dinner and rest at your hotel.

Day 4: From Dades Valley/Gorge – Ouarzazate City – Ait ben Haddou – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech

After breakfast, we drive through the beautiful Rose Valley, known for growing Rosa Damascena (Damask roses). The valley is especially beautiful in spring and autumn, and every May it hosts the Festival of Roses, featuring music, dancing, parades, and the crowning of “Miss Rose.” You may also visit a local cooperative where rosewater and rose oil are produced.

After lunch, we continue to Ouarzazate, often called the “Gateway to the Desert.” Located at the foot of the High Atlas Mountains, it is connected to Marrakech via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass. We will visit the Atlas Studios, where more than 200 international films have been shot.

Next, we visit Ait Ben Haddou, a famous ksar located on the southern slopes of the High Atlas. This site features several beautifully preserved kasbahs that once belonged to wealthy families and is still partly inhabited today.

In the late afternoon, we cross the High Atlas Mountains and continue to Marrakech. Upon arrival in the evening, we will drop you off at your hotel or riad, marking the end of your 4 days desert tour from Fes to Marrakech.
