Day Trip from Marrakech to Imlil (Atlas Mountains)

We will pick you up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech and spend the day together in the High Atlas Mountains, visiting the Imlil Valley.
Imlil is located about 65 km south of Marrakech, and the drive takes around 1.5 hours each way.

This day trip focuses on mountain scenery, Berber village life, and walking in nature. During the day, we explore the Imlil Valley, walk through orchards and traditional villages, enjoy views of Mount Toubkal, and share a home-cooked Berber lunch with a local family before returning to Marrakech in the late afternoon.

Day Trip from Marrakech to Imlil Itinerary

Morning Pick-Up from Marrakech

We pick you up from your accommodation in Marrakech in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. We drive together toward the Atlas Mountains, leaving the city behind and heading into the foothills. The journey takes around 1.5 hours.

Drive Through Tahanaout & Asni

On the way, we pass through Tahanaout and continue toward Asni. If the tour takes place on a Saturday, we can stop at the weekly Berber market to see how local communities trade and socialize.

Arrival in Imlil Valley

We arrive in Imlil (1,740 m), the main gateway to Mount Toubkal. We leave the vehicle and start the walking part of the day with a short break and a glass of mint tea at a local spot.

Guided Walk in the Mountains

We walk together for about 2–3 hours at a relaxed pace. The route passes through walnut and cherry orchards, terraced fields, and traditional Berber villages.
Along the way, we stop at the Imlil waterfalls and continue uphill toward Aroumd, the highest village in the valley, where we enjoy clear views over the surrounding mountains and Mount Toubkal.

Traditional Lunch with a Local Family

For lunch, we visit a Berber family home in Aroumd. We sit together and share a traditional homemade meal, usually tagine with fresh bread and mint tea. This is a calm moment to rest, eat, and learn about daily life in the mountains.

Return Walk & Drive Back to Marrakech

After lunch, we walk back down to Imlil using a different path, passing irrigation channels and terraced fields to see more of the valley.
In the afternoon, we drive back together to Marrakech and drop you off at your hotel or riad in the early evening.
