6 Days Tour Itinerary from Marrakech to Merzouga Desert

Day 1: Marrakech -Tizi Ntichka Ait Ben Haddou - Skoura - Boumalne Dades valley

We begin our 6-day desert tour with pickup from your riad or hotel in Marrakech. Driving through the High Atlas Mountains, we cross the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass, stopping at panoramic viewpoints and Berber villages along the way.

Our main visit of the day is Ait Ben Haddou, where you have time to explore the historic kasbah and enjoy lunch nearby (not included). We then continue through Skoura Oasis, known for its palm groves and traditional kasbahs, before arriving in the Dades Valley.

Dinner and overnight in a hotel or riad in the Dades Valley.

Day 2: Boumalne Dades Valley - Tinghir - Todra Gorge - Merzouga - Erg Chebbi dunes

After breakfast, we travel toward Todra Gorge, famous for its dramatic rock walls and river pathway. You will have time to walk through the gorge and take photos.

We continue through desert towns and palm oases, passing Erfoud, before reaching Merzouga in the afternoon. Here, you begin a camel ride across the Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset.

Day 3: Merzouga - Ziz Valley - Middle Atlas Mountains - Midelt - Azrou – Fes

Wake early to enjoy sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, we leave Merzouga and head north through the Ziz Valley, known for its long palm groves and desert landscapes.

We stop in Midelt for lunch (not included) before continuing through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Along the way, we pass cedar forests near Azrou, where Barbary macaques can often be seen.

By late afternoon or evening, we arrive in Fes, where you check into your riad or hotel for overnight.

Day 4: Explore historical Fez

Today is dedicated to exploring Fes, one of Morocco’s most historic imperial cities. With a local guide, you explore the UNESCO-listed medina of Fes el-Bali, including its narrow streets, traditional markets, and historic landmarks.

Visits may include the Chouara Tanneries, Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque (viewed from outside for non-Muslims), medersa schools, and artisan quarters. Overnight in Fes.

Day 5: Fez – Chefchaouen

After breakfast, we drive north toward Chefchaouen, the famous blue city in the Rif Mountains. The journey takes approximately four hours with scenic countryside views.

Upon arrival, you have free time to explore the medina, walk through its blue-washed streets, and relax in one of its cafés or viewpoints.

Overnight in Chefchaouen.

Day 6: Chefchaouen - Casablanca – Marrakech

On the final day, we depart Chefchaouen and drive to Casablanca, Morocco’s economic capital. Here, we visit the Hassan II Mosque, the largest mosque in Africa, located directly on the Atlantic Ocean.

After the visit, we continue back to Marrakech, where we drop you off at your hotel or riad, marking the end of your 6-day desert tour.
