2 Days Desert Tour In Morocco Itinerary From Fes To Marrakech

Here’s what you can expect from our private two-day tours of these cities in Morocco.

Day 1: Fes ⇢ Ifrane ⇢ Middle Atlas Mountains ⇢ Ziz Valley ⇢ Merzouga

Your 2-day Fes to Marrakech desert trip will begin with a pickup from the airport, followed by a brief rest period. We will then pick you up from your hotel or riad and travel to the incredible city of Marrakech, a journey that takes approximately 7 hours and 22 minutes (476.0 kilometers). We will arrive in Ifrane, also known as the Switzerland of Morocco, 45 minutes later. This is one of the most beautiful places to visit, thanks to its alpine-style architecture, European-style chalets, and frosty landscape, featuring ski slopes, gushing waterfalls, and vibrant, leafy forests.

The Cedar Forest in Azrou, situated just outside Ifrane, features stunning walking trails and is a wonderful place to spend the day. It is also ideal for mountain biking, making it a popular destination for visitors to the area. As you walk through the forest, don’t forget to admire the beautiful mountains that surround Azrou. If you’re lucky, you might even meet some of these friendly creatures called monkey. However, do not be surprised if they approach you with curiosity and playfulness; feed them some nuts if you have any, and they will be fine.

We will arrive at Ziz Valley in a few minutes, where you will notice stunning contrasts between the lush greenery of exquisite gardens and the rocky walls that fall sharply along the gorges.

Later in the day, we will arrive at Merzouga desert, where you will ride a camel into the middle of the desert and watch the sunset on the dunes before being taken to the camp for the night. You can enjoy a nice night here by staying at any of these camps, such as Sahara Stars Camp and Dihya Desert Camp, among others, and we guarantee that they have nice basic amenities that will provide you with comfort and a peaceful night.

Day 2: Merzouga ⇢ Ait Ben Haddou ⇢ High Atlas Mountains ⇢ Marrakech

On this day of your 2 days Morocco tour from Fes to Marrakech, we will wake you up very early to witness the amazing sunrise. After breakfast, we will return to ride a camel, or you can choose to explore Morocco’s highest and most extensive dunes, Erg Chebbi, in a 4×4 vehicle.

We will make our way to Marrakech, which is about 557.6km (8 hour 51 minutes) and we will make a stop at Tinghir, a valley filled with verdant gardens and an abundance of date palms that are sure to take your breath away. From the oasis town, the journey continues along a 15-kilometer road towards Todra Gorge. On the way, you will be surprised by the red rocky landscape, which, combined with the quaint clay villages and lush palm gardens, creates a picturesque backdrop.

Another stunning destination not far from Tinghir is the Dades Valley, which is famous for its beautiful kasbahs, winding roads, and spectacular rock formations. If you’re looking for more adventure, visit the World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou, Morocco’s best-preserved kasbah complex.

For the final stop on our private Morocco tours, we will travel to Tizi-n’Tichka, a mountain pass in the High Atlas Mountains that connects Marrakech to Ouarzazate. Tourists traveling to the Sahara Desert often take this pass as their starting point because of the stunning landscape it offers, which includes steep inclines, twisting roads, and scenic overlooks of the mountains and valleys in the area.

You will be taken to your Marrakech hotel or riad after your 2 days desert tour from Fes to Marrakech comes to an end here.

Loved every moment, especially the Berber music by the campfire. Our guide Hassan shared so much about the culture, and the desert camp was much more luxurious than I expected. Would definitely do it again!
